Arsenal and England teenage winger Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is excited to join the pre season training and can’t wait for the new season to get started.
The 18 year old joined the Gunners at the beginning of last season from Southampton and notched up 26 appearances scoring 4 goals in the process. The young star was not a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s squad for the Euros and impressed with his performances for the Three Lions. Chamberlain will join his Arsenal team mates later this week for training before flying off to Asia for the club’s pre season tour.
‘To get back into training, see the boys and play football again – I just can’t wait for it,’ Oxlade-Chamberlain said.
‘I spoke to the boss and Colin [Lewin] the physio and they said I am in on Thursday, but I asked if I could come in earlier! I just can’t wait to get started again and get cracking with the new season.’
Chamberlain is hopeful that his stint with the national team in the Euros will help him perform better as he enters the second season at the Emirates.
He added: ‘I enjoyed every minute of it, it was amazing for me.
‘I have come such a long way – from last season’s pre-season to going away with England in a massive tournament this year.
‘I learnt so much from going away to the Euros and it makes you want to strive for more.
‘The next tournament coming up is Brazil in 2014 but first and foremost I need to concentrate on Arsenal. But on the international stage I need to keep impressing the manager.’

There you go again…he’s 18 years old for Pete’s sake, and already so much pressure on the boy. I remember the same thing being said about Walcott being the new Henry. Let the boy develop quietly without all this pressure being heaped on him. I wonder what happened to the “Wenger signed another freaking kid” comments of last summer.
