Chelsea Could Still Lose Essien (To Arsenal) And Meireles

Turkish side Fenerbahce are interested to add to their squad Chelsea’s Ghanaian star Michael Essien despite failing in their attempt to qualify for the group stages of Champions League. The Ghanian has also become a transfer target for Arsenal

Spartak Moskva made their way in to the group stages at the cost of the Lig 1 side but that hasn’t diminished the side’s interest in the injury plagued Essien. The 29 year old is no longer a regular in the Chelsea starting lineup and the Blues are willing to sell him order to balance the expenditure this summer. Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger is still trying to replace the leave of Alexandre Song, and rumours have it that the Frenchman has eyed Essien.

The Blues have spent close £85m during this transfer window as they brought in Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, Oscar, Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta. Most of the transfers have been funded by the prize money from last season’s Champions League triumph, yet the Londoners are now considering offloading Essien keeping in mind UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

Fenerbahce are also known to be interested in Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles.
