Chelsea’s season is going from bad to worse, and their recent loss to strugglers Everton at Goodison Park has once again raised the eyebrows on their squad strength and depth, but legend Frank Lampard believes that the players are equally at fault for the poor form as the new manager.
Former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas took charge at Stamford Bridge during pre-season, and even though initial signs seemed positive, the curve has been downhill ever since. Lampard believes that it is unfair on the new boss to be targeted the way he has been by the media and fans.
Answering a question by the media about sharing the blame, Lampard said, “Of course we do, it’s a group thing,
It was a bad performance from start to finish.
When you come to Everton, the one thing you know they’re going to do is fight you, press you and make things tough and we didn’t react to that.
We created two or three chances and that’s not up to standard. We can only take that on the chin and apologise to the people who came up and watched it because that’s not good enough for Chelsea.”
