Liverpool have been dealt a knock-out blow in their chase of Borussia Dortmund’s highly-rated winger Jakub Blaszczykowski as the midfielder has signed a contract extension with the German champions.

After starring in Dortmund’s back-to-back title triumphs, Blaszczykowski’s stock rose in recent months as several top clubs sat up and took notice of the wideman.

He captained his country Poland in this summer’s European championships and shone on an individual level, however could not lead his country into the knockout stages.

However, this has not deterred the interested clubs’ interest in him, and English side Liverpool are one of the suitors who were interested in luring him to Anfield in the current Transfer window.

Dortmund, however sensing that their star midfielder could be sucked into a Transfer story, have offered Blaszczykowski a new deal, which he has accepted and has signed on the dotted line. Dortmund have averted a Transfer saga involving one of their influential players, along with have broken the hearts of Liverpool, who had earmarked the Polish international as a possible target. Sadly, Liverpool will have to look elsewhere, and their hunt goes on.
