English Giants Line Up For Russian Skipper

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool are expected to all vie for the signature of Zenit St. Petesburg’s Igor Denisov, following a bust up between the player and his club.

It all started once the Russian transfer window slammed shut, and Zenit announced their two mega signings in the form of Brazilian striker Hulk and Belgian midfielder Axel Witsel for a combined fee of a massive £72 million.

These surely are two big names to join the Russian league, however the enormous wages paid to them has not impressed the duo’s teammate Denisov, who openly questioned his club. “I could understand it if we signed Messi or Iniesta, who are worth any price. Yes, we bought good players who clearly will help Zenit. But they are so much better than others to earn a salary three times better?” he asked.

Denisov’s outburst has angered the club, who have now ordered him and his team-mate Alexander Kerzhakov, who echoed Denisov’s views, to train with the club’s youth team.

With the situation looking likely to end with Denisov’s departure from Zenit, the English clubs have took notice and are expected to prepare their January bid for the Russian captain.

When I studied economics there were all kinds of equations and even laws that suggested the science ruled our daily lives. That was then. Of course all of my studies were based on the availability and manipulation of money and it`s political influence.

We never learned or even considered a bottomless pit or an endless cornucopia of wealth that defies the principles.

The oil barons of the middle east and the opportunists from the eastern block Have made a mockery of our civilized approach to the control of money and in the name of sport.

Well said Australian Jack. But what are we to do about it. Nothing? Continue to live the way we do and hope for change I guess.
