Schalke 04 striker Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar has reiterated his desire to remain with the Bundesliga club and has no intention of moving to the Premier League.
The 29-year-old has never had any shortage of Premier League admirers as Arsenal and Liverpool have been continuously linked with a move for the Dutchman. Even Manchester United wanted to sign him prior to his move to Real Madrid from Ajax in 2009.
The Premier League duo of the Reds and Gunners both wanted to lure the Holland international to the Premier League during the January transfer window but he committed his future to the Bundesliga outfit. Huntelaar has scored 72 goals in 112 appearances for Schalke and signed an extension till 2015 recently.
And Huntelaar, who has already played for eight clubs in his career, has signalled his intention to stay at the Veltins-Arena till he retires. He said, “It is possible to sign a new contract with Schalke. I will be 32 (when this one runs out) and I’m thinking to end my career here.”
This will be a big blow to both clubs since both are on the lookout for a proven striker and they will have to scout for another striker to sign in the summer.
