Valencia defender Aly Cissokho has welcomed a move to Anfield as he admitted his pride in being linked with the Merseyside outfit.
The Reds have utilized Stewart Downing as a make-shift left back this season but his form at the top end of the field has considerably increased, leaving Liverpool with only one recognized left back in the form of Jose Enrique. The first-choice left back has already missed large parts of the season through injury and Liverpool were forced to switch Glen Johnson from right back to left back on few occasions.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is known to be in the market for a new left back to provide competition for places and has been tracking France International Cissokho, who joined Valencia only last summer from Lyon and has had a stellar season so far. The Reds will most probably not be able to offer the Frenchman Champions League football next season but they have received a boost in their chase for the 25-year-old.
Cissokho has his heart set on a move to Liverpool apparently and would jump at the chance to move to Merseyside. He said. “Liverpool? I have never hidden the fact that the Premier League is the league that attracts me the most. It’s a pleasure to see my name linked to that of the Reds. They are a great club and not everyone has the honour to wear that shirt.”
