Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has expressed the level of trust he has on club captain Steven Gerrard, after finding that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker had been given the captaincy instead.
This refers to the international friendly played by England against Netherlands at the new Wembley Stadium, where new interim coach Stuart Pierce picked Parker to lead the country.
Kuyt said, “For me Stevie is the main one for the England team to be the captain.
“On and off the pitch he is such a personality. Of course, it is up to the manager of England who makes the decision.
“But in my eyes he is the main one. He is the perfect leader for Liverpool and the perfect leader for the England team.”
Whether Kuyt’s advice is gonna be followed by the Stuart and the new boss on the way to the Wembley, only time will tell, but the England captaincy and managerial position are up for grabs.Show
