Manchester United Hit With Injury To Versatile Winger

Manchester United enjoyed a comfortable victory over Ajax in the Europa League round of 32, but came home with a troubling hamstring injury to winger Antonio Valencia, who will be sidelined for up to four weeks.

Valencia was brought on as a second half substitute in the match at the Amsterdam ArenA for fellow winger Ashley Young, latter of whom scored the first of the two goals.

The Ecuadorian has been used in a variety of positions by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, such as right back and on the wing up front. The 26-year old has been instrumental in turning around fortunes at Old Trafford, and provide stability with his pace, strength and versatility.

Sir Alex confirmed the injury to the press, and said, “He has a hamstring injury unfortunately, It will be four weeks.”

“It is a bad blow for us.”

The Scot will have to again wave his magic wand and use his squad depth to the optimum level to make sure the injury does not hamper their title charge.
