Following his summer departure to Barcelona from Arsenal, Alex Song spoke for the first time as to how he convinced the club and his former boss Arsene Wenger to let him leave for the Nou Camp.

As Arsenal came to terms following the high-profile transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United, they suffered another blow as holding midfielder Alex Song left for Barcelona. Within a span of a few days, Arsenal lost their top two performers last season. Despite that, the Gunners have started the season very brightly, similar to Song, who has helped Barcelona to the top of the table, and are looking comfortable at the summit.

Speaking to the press, the 25-year old revealed, “It was hard to convince him and also say goodbye because he really helped me and my family when I arrived at Arsenal at 17 years old,

“When a club like Barcelona want you, you can’t say no.

‘A chance like this only happens once in life and you must take it.”
