Vela On His Way Back To Arsenal?

Former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela has not ruled out the possibility of a return to North London after it has been reported that scouts from Arsenal have been spotted in the stands watching him closely in action.

Vela arrived in London as a 16-year old from Mexican club Guadalajara, and after initially playing for the Under 21s and over the years, he managed to break through into the first team and scored 11 goals in 62 appearances during his stint with the Gunners. He also had a short spell on loan at West Bromwich Albion in 2011, where he played an important part in avoiding the club from relegation.

He then sealed a permanent move away to Spanish club Real Sociedad in the summer and has impressed in his debut season, scoring 9 goals and 5 assists in 21 games. His impressive form has attracted his former employers, who are monitoring the striker from close quarters. It has been reported that scouts from Arsenal have been spotted on numerous occasions who are watching Vela in action.

Arsenal have also inserted a buy back option in the clause of Vela, and could possibly trigger that if they are impressed with what they have seen. It is believed that a fee of roughly £3.5 million should be sufficient to bring Vela back to the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking about a potential reunion, Vela optimistically said, “I don’t rule it out,”

“They have a clause to buy me back – you put that in the contract for a reason. I don’t know if anything will happen, it is out of my hands, but I know Arsenal have come to see my games.”
