Arsenal are believed to be deliberating over Theo Walcott’s future and will take a final decision whether to sell him in the final hours of the transfer window.
The 23 year old has been expected to follow club captain Robin Van Persie out after initial talks over a contract extension broke down. Premier League rivals Chelsea and Liverpool have been keenly studying the situation with a view to sign the winger for cheap should he want out. With just a year remaining on his contract, the Londoners would not be in a position to bargain hard over his price and risk losing him for nothing at the end of next season.
After the departures of former club captain Robin Van Persie and midfielder Alex Song to Manchester United and Barcelona respectively, Wenger is extremely keen on retaining the young Englishman. The Frenchman was quoted as saying, ‘when a player doesn’t want to stay, you either force him or you let him go’.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is rumored to be keen to snap up the winger on the transfer deadline day after failing in his attempts to lure Scott Sinclair from Swansea to the Eastlands. The Italian has been strangely inactive this summer and wants to bring in a replacement for Adam Johnson who joined Sunderland earlier this summer.
