As Arsenal winger Theo Walcott made his wish of playing as a central striker known recently, the club’s manager Arsene Wenger said that though he is completely open to the idea, Walcott might have to wait for a while.
When one thinks of Walcott, they think of someone who can create chances for his team mates by using his blistering pace on the right wing, however it is a poorly kept secret that the 23-year old can finish exceptionally well too. We saw Walcott’s abilities last night as he grabbed a brace in Arsenal’s 6-1 mauling of Coventry City in the Capital One Cup.
As Wenger spoke to the media post Arsenal’s impressive display, the Frenchman was asked about the prospect of seeing Walcott play upfront in a central role one day, to which he replied, ”I’m not against it, I’m not against it at all but we try and at the moment there is big competition up front, we have a different formula and the team is doing well,”
“His time will come for that and at the moment we have to be a bit patient.
“He is a great finisher now, in front of goal he is really absolutely amazing.”
